A voice on the world's great stages
Saimir Pirgu is one of today's most celebrated lyric tenors. He has sung at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, La Scala, the Vienna Staatsoper, the London Royal Opera House and the Paris Opera.
Born in Elbasan, Albania, he was discovered by Claudio Abbado and, at twenty-two, became the youngest singer ever to debut a principal role at the Salzburg Festival. In concert he has worked with Riccardo Muti, Antonio Pappano and Zubin Mehta.
